Pear cardamon crumble with coconut sugar

pear cardamon crumble

This crumble with pears, spices and coconut sugar has really dark, rich flavours that are just a little bit addictive. I love crumbles, they are easy to make and there are just so many possibilities. This time I got creative with some beautiful blushing fresh pears. The pears wear a little bit juicy but still hard when I cut them, perfect for a crumble. The pears are cut and coated with a little cinnamon and cardamon, which give a lovely spicy flavour.

A normal crumble, I make with plain flour, butter and sugar. This dark crumble mix is made with dark coconut sugar, flour and salted butter. Coconut sugar is not only dark in color, but it gives a dark flavour almost with notes of coffee or chocolate. The only downside for using a darker crumble is that is a little bit harder to see when the crumble is done. I normally do not set a baking time, but just look at the colouring of the crumble.

I love to eat a fruit crumble when it is still warm. When you have a dinner party it is easy to make this crumbles beforehand, and just set 5 minutes in a warm oven before serving. Serve the crumbles with a scoop of vanilla or cinnamon ice cream to make it a real festive dessert. For me these crumbles are a perfect example of simple home made cooking with just a little bit of flair that will keep you coming back for more…..
