Before I made this orange sea salt I had not made an infused salt before so I was really curious of how this would turn out. After making this I wished I had known this trick sooner because it was so easy to make and I really love this flavoured salt! I now use it to season salads, grilled fish or to give extra flavour to vegetables. So I hope this basic recipe also get you exited to try this and discover a new depth of flavour to your normal salt.
In this recipe I just orange but you can make all kinds of flavoured salt. Also try:
- Lime salt
- Orange & Thyme salt
- Chilli & Ginger salt
- Sage & Basil salt
Orange sea salt
Print RecipeIngredients
- Zest of 1 orange (about two tablespoons)
- 100 gram of flaky sea salt
Instructions
Preheat your oven at 225F / 105C
Meanwhile combine the orange zest and sea salt in a large bowl
Mix everything really good and make sure there are no big clumps of orange zest
Spread the mixture on a parchment lined baking tray and let the mixture dry in the oven for about 60 minutes
When the mixture is dry let is cool and store it in a container
Notes
Because one zest can be more dry than others the baking time is not always the same. Check your mixture every ten minutes, when it is completely dry it is done.
